Porthleven Primary School aims to provide a safe and supportive environment where every child feels confident to explore a new language, take risks and approach the learning of a new language and culture with curiosity and respect towards each other and our learning.

The school curriculum helps our pupils to feel connected to a broader global community through the exploration of French-speaking cultures, traditions, language and daily lives.  The use of interactive games, songs and engaging content help to foster a sense of inclusion and unity where children should feel they belong.

We teach our children to be responsible for their learning by being curious, taking part and supporting one another.  Our aim is that pupils will learn the importance of respect for different cultures, conversational skills that prepare them for future language study and everyday communication, and a love for language learning.

Through the teaching of a foreign language, pupils can foster a growth mindset where resilience, perseverance and positive attitudes are encouraged and developed.
